While some of A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation’s programs continue operating without interruption due to Covid-19, other programs have been recreated to keep our vulnerable lung cancer community safe and supported during these trying weeks.
Research: The ABOH National Advisory Committee and our local research committee have identified our 2020 Research Fellow—the winner of the $150,000 Katherine Bensen Hope Award. Watch for an announcement late summer.
Awareness: Events like The ABOH Golf Classic June 12 and the Twin Cities Lung Run/Walk August 8 have been given permission to roll out physically with social distancing protocols and virtual options built into each event. Follow our event news on social media or on our website.
Support services: All support groups (male lung cancer survivors, female lung cancer survivors, family and friends experiencing grief, and lung cancer patient education meetings) have been moved to virtual platforms. Check our schedule of meetings and featured topics.
The Hope, Eats & Joy Grocery Program, in honor of Chelsi has been set up internally as a temporary 2020 ABOH program during the Coronavirus outbreak. The program will deliver $200 of groceries (including flowers and materials for the Hope Coloring Contest) to the doorstep of patients at no cost. This is not the time for lung cancer patients to venture out to grocery stores and we know that finances are often tight for those battling cancer. Email us at Mary@abreathofhope.org to receive an application for a free $200 grocery delivery. This program is currently available to lung cancer patients/survivors living in the seven-county metro area of the Twin Cities. Learn more about the A Breath of Hope, Eats & Joy Program.
