At Sewa-Asian Indian Family Wellness (AIFW), we made it our mission to put our passion for human rights and social justice to work in the under-served South Asian community here in the Twin Cities. We ask that you make it your mission too, by helping support the Sewa-Aifw Health & Resource Fair 2019.
SEWA-AIFW is a not-for-profit organization committed to a healthy South Asian community in the Twin Cities. It provides services such as health assessments, community-based health clinics, women’s health initiatives, domestic violence survivor support and senior services for the South Asian community.
In the past we have had an attendance of 900-1000 community take advantage of the Health and Resource Fair. This year we are expecting much more than that, due to the community awareness and not finding culturally specific health access. SEWA-AIFW is mending the gap by providing access to these services.
Health and Resource Fair is an outreach to Minnesota’s second largest Asian immigrant community. As the only social advocacy services agency in Minnesota, SEWA-AIFW will be connecting the community to various health care programs and plans along with other resources.
During the Fair, SEWA-AIFW’s physician volunteers will be available to check blood pressure, cholesterol, run diabetes tests, ECG, Mammogram Screenings, Dietary and Immigration seminars as well as provide referrals to free and low-cost health clinics and culturally sensitive healthcare services. Information to senior services and respite program ( Home Visit ) is part of the planning as well.
