Statement from the Many Faces Conference on the Murder of George Floyd

The Many Faces of Community Health Conference stands in steadfast support of our communities who have been impacted by the devastating, long-term structural inequities, injustices, and racism that resulted in George Floyd’s brutal murder – right here in our own back yard.

For decades our safety net health system has witnessed the significant health disparities in the communities of color we serve. We know these disparities extend far beyond health care to other social determinants of health.

Now is the time to take action to end racism and inequity in health care and support the healing process in the communities we serve. We must work together to ensure that EVERYONE has the opportunity to lead a healthy, happy, and productive life. We all have a role to play in breaking down the structures and systems that devalue the lives and bodies of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

We heard you—the Many Faces of Community Health Conference is going virtual for 2020!

Many thanks to those who completed our survey. The health and safety of our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors is of utmost importance to us. A virtual event allows us to learn and share with one another safely.

Here are some of the details we have so far—

  • 1-day conference on Thursday, October 22nd, 2020
  • Hosted via Zoom Webinar. We will have event production support on hand in case attendees and/or speakers need IT assistance.
  • The day will highlight 2 keynotes (to be announced soon) and up to 4 breakout sessions
  • All sessions will be recorded and available on-demand
  • CMEs will still be offered
  • We anticipate offering additional on-demand sessions that we are not able to present live
  • Reduced cost to attend — $75 (General), $50 (MNACHC Members), and $30 (Students). Registration will open mid-July.
  • We will be announcing nominations for community health awards in mid-July. We would like to recognize individuals and/or organizations who have been on the frontlines of responding to COVID-19 and other recent events.

To our Sponsors and Exhibitors

We thank you for your continued support of the Many Faces Conference, it is with this support that we are able to deepen our impact on Minnesota’s health care safety net and promote health equity.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate for a virtual exhibit hall this year. However, we have made some modifications to our sponsorship offerings, including an honorary exhibitor tier. Benefits of these new sponsorship opportunities include:

  • customized profile pages
  • social media promotions
  • live or recorded videos, and
  • recognition in the MNACHC newsletter.

Please see below for the 2020 Virtual Sponsorship Tiers, we hope you will consider still joining us this year.

It is our hope that we will be able to expand our virtual presence to offer a more robust sponsorship and exhibitor experience at future Many Faces Conferences. We are committed to making this a valuable experience for you. We so appreciate your understanding and ability to be flexible with us as we navigate the changing environment.

Innovation & Resiliency

The deadline to submit abstracts for the 2020 Many Faces Conference has been extended to July 1, at 5:00 p.m. (CT).

We encourage abstracts that specifically call out COVID-19, racism, and structural violence as public health issues that disproportionately impact the health and well-being of communities of color across Minnesota. We ask that speakers intersect current events (racism, police brutality, trauma, COVID-19, telehealth) in their breakout sessions.
