In Breast, Cervical, & Colorectal Cancer Screening, Health Equity, Patient Navigation

The Cancer Health Equity Network (CHEN) has been busy this year moving forward on a project to develop and disseminate a video highlighting Community Health Workers (CHWs)and their role in cancer outreach, education and screening. Funded through the generous support of the Minnesota Department of Health and the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. CHEN is partnering with TPT to produce and broadcast a 90 second video highlighting the role and positive impact of CHWs in cancer outreach, education and screening.   This cross-cutting project aligns with Objective 6 of the Cancer Plan – Expand the cancer workforce to include more community health workers, patient navigators and care coordinators. As well as Objective 2 of the Cancer Plan – Increase risk appropriate screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer.

CHEN members have been developing scripts, organizing dissemination plans and identifying community organizations for location filming. Thanks to our partners filming started on June 27th at West Side Community Health Services in St. Paul, and North Point Health and Wellness Center in North Minneapolis. TPT will also be filming the Hmong Health Care Professionals Coalition Health Fair on July 1st at the Annual July 4th Freedom Festival!

The video will be completed in fall, 2018 and TPT estimates that through broadcast on their stations, electronic newsletters, website and magazine, that 240,000 will see or read about the video and the role of CHWs in cancer outreach and screening.

CHEN is planning a Premiere event and YOU are invited. Look for details Fall, 2018
