In Survivorship

A Day of Encouragement and Empowerment

The Breast Cancer Education Association would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s annual conference a great success! Because of global health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference was a virtual event, held on October 3rd with an emphasis on survivorship.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors and amazing volunteers. We especially appreciate the efforts of our education committee in bringing together this panel of outstanding speakers who shared their expertise and personal stories with us.

  • Coping with Cancer as a Physician—Heather Thompson Buum, MD
  • What Happened? I Just Want Sex to Be Like It Used to Be—June LaValleur, MD
  • The River of life. A Personal StoryAndrew Mayo, MD
  • Yoga and Ancient Practices in Integrative Medicine for Cancer Patients and SurvivorsMaureen Farley, E-RYT 200, YACEP
  • Moving Forward with Hope and HealingKelly Grosklags, LICSW, BCD

Here’s a sampling of the conference feedback we’ve received.

If I had a megaphone, I would shout it from a roof-top. To have speakers of this caliber to educate and inspire is beyond valuable. I enjoyed the speakers so much and learned so much from the cancer survivors.

“I have attended almost all conferences since the beginning and this conference was amazing. It made everyone think forward to being able to reach people who cannot attend in person for various reasons.

I have taken part in most of the previous 10 years of conferences and this was the most meaningful group of speakers that I can recall.

Here’s a chance to connect with fellow cancer folks, learn more about the journey, and feel empowered to help others!

If you missed it, be sure to check out the speaker presentations online.

We are already making plans for the 20th annual conference next year, and hope to see everyone in person – so mark your calendar now for October 2, 2021!
