October 5, 2019  |  8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Wilder Center  |  451 Lexington Parkway North  |  St. Paul, MN 55104

Wilder Center offers free onsite parking and is conveniently located between downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul. It is accessible by I-94, Metro Transit Light Rail and several bus routes.

The only event of its kind in the Twin Cities, the Conference is designed to empower survivors and caregivers with knowledge and resources to help them live with, through and beyond cancer. It’s an inspiring and educational day for those in our community whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. You will meet and learn from respected leaders in the field, find practical tools and resources and connect with others who are also dealing with the challenges of living with breast cancer.

Who Should Attend?
Over 250 people interested in the fight against breast cancer attend the conference each year. This includes survivors and their families, caregivers and health care professionals. CEU credits are offered for health care professionals and teachers.

A limited number of scholarships are available. Please complete and submit the application form if you are interested.

Featured Speakers

  • Keith Knutson, PhD – Can breast cancer be prevented with a vaccine?  Dr. Knutson, the principal investigator of a $13.3 million, five-year Breakthrough Award grant from the Department of Defense, will share an update on breast cancer vaccines that could prevent cancer from recurring or even developing in the first place.
  • June LaValleur, MD – What Happened? I Just Want Sex to Be Like It Used to Be!  Sexual health is an important factor in emotional, physical and spiritual health. LaValleur will discuss hormonal changes after diagnosis and treatment, as well as some physical and psychological changes to relationships that may occur with a diagnosis like cancer.
  • Greg Plotnikoff, MD – Optimal bone health is a critical component of survivorship. Dr. Plotnikoff will discuss nutritional factors, beyond calcium, for healthy bone and will share bone-building strategies that can be easily woven into daily practice.
  • Kyle Woody, Co-founder of Jack’s Caregiver Coalition – One of the most important challenges a man can face is that of caring for a loved one with cancer. Kyle will lead a panel discussion sharing tips and insights for caregivers (and their caregetters).
  • Tamara Robinson, Green Lotus Yoga – Explore the benefits of yoga and meditation. You’ll experience gentle body postures, breathing techniques and a guided meditation while seated comfortably in a chair and leave with some tools to continue this practice at home.

Again this year, the Breast Cancer Education Association has teamed up with Park Nicollet and the Sage Screening Program to offer free mammograms to eligible women age 40 and over.
