Kris Newcomer, M.A, is the past Executive Director of The Firefly Sisterhood, a non-profit organization that brings together inspirational breast cancer survivors with women who have been recently diagnosed to mentor, guide and support each other. When the opportunity presented itself to take a simple idea and make it happen, and at the same time her sister-in-law had her double mastectomy, she knew it was meant to be. With just a name and a concept, in the last four years, Firefly Sisterhood has moved from the drawing board to serving 1500 women in the community since 2014. Kris merged her skills in technology, marketing and community building to launch Firefly Sisterhood. Kris spent three years working for The BrandLab, a non-profit organization that matches a diverse group of Minnesota teens with internships in marketing and advertising at major agencies across Minnesota, before starting The Firefly Sisterhood.
