The Masonic Cancer Center Community Engagement and Education team is working to spread the word about cancer through unique partnerships with local businesses.

Wilson’s Image Barbers & Stylists has teamed up to host monthly cancer-related conversations for anyone interested in attending. These free events have included topics such as prostate cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer. Their June topic—nutrition—includes demonstrations and food samples and will be heldJune 9, 2018, from 2-5pm. These events are a great way for the Community Engagement and Education team to build rapport with community members and have been well received. This program will continue in the fall with additional topics and presentations listed on the Healthy Helpful Insights Facebook page or at the Masonic Cancer Center Community Impact website.

The Cora McCorvey YMCA in Minneapolis is working with the Masonic Cancer Center Community Engagement and Education team for their upcoming United for Health: Men’s Health Symposium and FAITH (Fostering African-American Improvement in Total Health)! Celebration and Walk on June 23, 2018. The event will focus on heart health and prostate cancer, with a Masonic Cancer Center speaker sharing prevention and detection expertise with attendees.

The team is always looking for ways to share important cancer prevention, detection, and survivorship information with the public and looks forward to creating new partnerships with community organizations like Wilson’s Image Barbers & Stylists and the Cora McCorvey YMCA!
