Member of the Steering Committee
Shari Hahn, RN, MSN, is director of Oncology Services at Sanford Bemidji Cancer Center. Her philosophy is to always keep patients at the forefront of program planning and service delivery. As a member of the Steering Committee, she anticipates adding a rural voice to deliberations. “I live in rural Minnesota,” she says. “I understand the challenges that our patients face. The distance, the time it takes to get to and from medical appointments, and the cost of transportation itself can create barriers to acquiring the care that patients need.”
Since coming to Sanford in 2012 from Essentia Health in Fargo, Hahn has worked with her cancer team to make sure financial assistance, nutrition, rehab, social services and survivorship programing is available to patients and their families. From screening programs to help detect cancer at its earliest stages, all the way through to survivorship programming, she is an advocate for comprehensive patient-centered care, no matter where a patient is at in their cancer journey. Every decision, she says, is rooted in a commitment to patients.
