Jerri Hiniker is the Program Manager at Stratis Health where she leads the organization’s work in the area of prevention. For the past 12 years she has worked with healthcare providers to plan and help incorporate the latest and most appropriate care for patients. Her expertise is broad and ranges from health information technology and tobacco cessation to shared decision making and quality/risk management. In addition to graduate training in Nursing Informatics and Health Informatics at the College of St. Scholastica, Jerri has years of experience as a registered nurse who has worked in surgical care, critical care, home care and hospice. For the past 9 years she has led Stratis Health’s Prevention Collaboratives which focus on areas such as tobacco cessation and colon cancer and breast cancer screening.
Jerri says the close partnership between Stratis Health’s prevention and health disparities programs has helped her to see how factors such as culture, race, socioeconomic status, and geographic location not only play a role in the prevention of cancer, but also in how treatment and care are sought and delivered. Throughout her career she has seen the effects of cancer from multiple perspectives – from the hospital bedside caring for the newly diagnosed cancer patient and now as a program manager working to prevent cancer from happening. She believes these experiences will give her the insight and knowledge to support and carry out the work and priorities of the Alliance.
